The New York Times recently did a piece on the next generation of bike chains developed by a number of companies worldwide, and let me tell you — I’m excited.
We all know how annoying traditional bike chains can be. They’re dirty, need oiling, and there’s always that fear (I have it, at least) that your jeans or shoelaces are going to get stuck in it. These new chains? None of that. These new chains are more like the fan belts you’d find on a car engine than any sort of chain.
The only problem? It looks like you’ll need to buy a whole new frame to use them.
Would you be willing to shell out for one just to get rid of that dirty old bike chain?
